We caught up with Everton loanee and Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson after he impressed on his Latics debut on the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship season as Paul Cook's side beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-2.
"I couldn’t have asked for much more; it was a brilliant performance from the lads and we could have scored five or six goals. We are really happy to have won on the opening day of the season.
We worked hard on our shape in training and we know what we are about as a team. We are confident we can go out and attack teams and play how we want to play, we showed today we aren’t scared of anyone.
I think belief is one of the biggest things in football; if you believe you’re good enough and the whole team shares that belief then it’ll show in the league."
On a personal note, Robinson's debut performance saw him make a real impression and he says Latics fans can expect more.
"It took me about 20 minutes to recover after that run [For Michael Jacobs' first goal]! I was delighted, though, that is what I am all about, running into space and trying to get as many assists as I can.
"I will have to work on my finishing but hopefully when I get a few more games and get used to our style of play, I’ll get in the box more and contribute with a few goals.
"The manager encouraged me to bomb on and be confident and trust our defenders at the back – our style of play shows we are taking it to other teams."
