  • Nick Powell set to miss the visit of Rochdale at the DW Stadium.
  • Paul Cook likely to make changes to his Latics team after Monday's victory over Manchester City.

Speaking to iFollow Latics at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre, Paul Cook gave the latest fitness and injury news from his squad ahead of the Sky Bet League One clash with Rochdale at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

WIGAN ATHLETIC

Latics are set to be without Nick Powell for the weekend's clash with Dale, after the forward picked up an injury against Manchester City during Monday night's 1-0 victory in the Emirates FA Cup.

Speaking about Powell's injury, Paul Cook said:

“Nick Powell won’t make the game against Rochdale that’s for sure. There are one or two other lads who won’t be involved, but I won’t be going into too much detail, that’ll come out when the team sheets go in."

Captain Samy Morsy will also be missing from Saturday's squad as he serves the final match of a two-game suspension for picking up 10 yellow cards.

“Samy Morsy is still suspended," Cook continued.

"It will be a changed team, but within those changes we’ve got lads who believe they should be starting. The lads have waited for opportunities to come and some of them will certainly get the chance to do that."

ROCHDALE

Speaking to rochdaleafc.co.uk ahead of his side's 0-0 draw with MK Dons on Wednesday, Dale boss Keith Hill said he too expects to rotate his squad during a busy run in.

“Over the 18 games [we’ll utilise the squad]", said Hill.

“Everybody concerned with the football club has got to realise that we’ll be playing two or three times a week between now and the end of the season so I will have to play different teams.

“It’ll be very difficult for a starting eleven to continue playing week in/ week out when we’re up to three games a week and we’ve got travelling etc. It’s going to be difficult so we will rely on those players."
