Latics head to Southend United on a 16-match unbeaten run across Sky Bet League One and the Emirates FA Cup, but Paul Cook's side will come up against a stern test when they face Chris Powell's revitalised Shrimpers.
The Roots Hall club have captured back-to-back victories since Powell's arrival towards the end of January. A last minute 3-2 victory at home to Scunthorpe United thanks to Michael Turner kicked off the new era in style, before last weekend's 1-0 away win against Peterborough United.
Cook's Latics are unbeaten in eight League One games on the road, winning all six of their last outings, with the most recent victory a 3-1 turnaround against in-form Plymouth Argyle.
Gavin Massey celebrates giving Latics the lead on the road at Plymouth Argyle.

The Shrimpers' upturn in form under new manager Chris Powell has been a timely boost, with back-to-back victories lifting them away from the League One relegation battle. Southend are now five clear of danger and will have their sights set on upper mid-table in their current winning mood, but they'll still have to keep one eye over their shoulder to see off the risk completely.
Latics continue to go from strength-to-strength and now sit two points clear of Shrewsbury Town with a game in hand, and four points clear of third place Blackburn Rovers with two games in hand. Paul Cook's men are a massive 17 points clear of seventh.
League: Latics 9 wins, Southend 7 wins, 1 draws – scored 27, conceded 15
Latics’ away record: 2 wins, 1 draw, 5 defeats – scored 6, conceded 9
