Wigan Athletic forward Ryan Colclough was delighted to make his return to action as Latics won 2-0 against Gillingham on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking post-match, Colclough told iFollow Latics:

"It was a great team performance from the off; I think we deserved to go in at the break 2-0 up and then I think we continued to dominate, other than a little spell they had in the second-half.

"We have a great defence, though, and we worked really hard.

"The gaffer has put a really good squad together and we all know each other's roles; I think whoever plays knows what they have to do and it was a great team performance, I enjoyed it.

"The gaffer doesn't want any of us just playing in one position, he wants us to mix it up and I think we have got movement that is so good that our opponents can't really pick us up and work out where we are all playing."

And Colclough added he was delighted to be back involved from the start, making his first league start since our win over Fleetwood Town in December.

"Through December I was off with illness and then I had a shoulder injury," he continued. "I have been working really hard to get back to full fitness and it was great be out there for my first game back again."

Nick Powell will again take the plaudits for another top performance and Colclough, a long-term friend of Powell's, is delighted to see the forward stay.

"When Nick gets the ball he makes it easy for players like me and Crackers," Colclough said. "He is a special player and we all knew he would attract interest but this week shows a commitment from him that he wants to stay and help us do well."
