Stockport County 1-1 Wigan Athletic

Latics Ladies picked up an impressive point at top of the table Stockport County on Sunday afternoon.

The home side, who haven’t been beaten all season, started the game the livelier of the two sides but failed to break down a resolute visiting defence.

A competitive affair, County look the lead before half time when they were presented with an opportunity on the edge of the area and they duly took it.

After ruing missed chances in the first period, Latics were in total control after the interval with the vast majority of the play in the home team’s half.

Megan Hornby and Rachel Ainscow were threats on the wings as Latics were playing some good stuff as they went in search of an equaliser.

That goal deservedly came midway through the half when Hornby’s shot hit the post and rebounded back to Ashley Taylor who made no mistake from close range.

Latics could have gone on to win the game at the end however a header from a corner rattled the bar and both sides were made to settle for a point.
