Devante Cole is eager to continue his impressive Sky Bet League One form for Latics having signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club from Fleetwood Town on transfer deadline day.

The 22-year-old netted 12 times in all competitions for the Cod Army this campaign and is now looking forward to linking up with his new teammates at Euxton this week.

He was the only addition to the Latics squad on deadline day, with Cook having signed Jamie Walker, James Vaughan and Jay Fulton earlier in the window.

Cole said: “I’m buzzing to be here and I’m just happy with what’s ahead of me. I woke up thinking what may happen so when I got here I couldn’t wait to get it done.

“If you look at the way the club have been doing this season and the way they’ve been playing it’s obvious that the aim is promotion.

“It’s a big club as it is and I want to get them back to where they should be. It’s the perfect club for me to come to.

“The facilities here are Premier League standard and the club have obviously been there before and that’s where it wants to get back to.”

Impressed by the quality in the Latics squad, Cole aims to break into Cook’s team and help his new club to return to the second tier at the first time of asking.

“I hope I can come here now and just keep on scoring and help to get the team promoted.

“I’m quick, direct and play off the shoulder and I just like to attack and score goals.

“It’s a strong League One team and that’s why they’re top of the league. I want to come in and add to what the boys have already done.

“I met the Chairman and the manager and thought to myself ‘Wow, I want to come here and be a part of it all.’
