Latics striker Will Grigg says the positive atmosphere inside the DW Stadium on Saturday was a massive influence on the club's 2-0 win over West Ham United in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round.

Speaking post-match with iFollow Latics, Grigg said:

"The positive atmosphere in the stadium makes such a difference and the noise today was top drawer. If that can be replicated for all the games this season that would be great because it really does give us a lift.

"It was a brilliant performance. We played on the front foot from the start and had a good tempo. We played really well today. Every man on the pitch was tremendous.

"When you start well it’s massive so you’ve got to make that count by scoring a goal. Nathan put a great ball in for me and I had the easy job of nodding it in. It gave the fans a lift.

"We know we’ve got good players and the manager has kept the spirits high since he was appointed in the summer. I think you can see the bond we have by how hard we work for each other on the pitch."

Grigg has now reached 14 goals for the season and is the Emirates FA Cup's top goal-scorer and he says 20 is his first target for the campaign.

"I’ll keep ticking the goals off as they come," he continued. "The aim for me this season is obviously 20 so I just need to keep it going now."

Grigg, like everyone associated with the club, will be tuned into the Fifth Round draw on Monday and says he Latics don't mind who gets pulled out of the hat.

"We won’t fear anyone now after beating two Premier League teams," Grigg added. "Whoever we get we’ll prepare properly for it because we want to keep that magic alive for the fans."
