Speaking to iFollow Latics at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre on Friday morning ahead of the team's pre-season visit to Tranmere Rovers, Latics boss Paul Cook said he is likely to be without three of his first team players.
Samy Morsy has returned to the club following his 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Egypt in Russia and will not be available for Saturday's match, but will link up with the squad for Latics' pre-season training camp in Spain next week.
On loan goalkeeper Christian Walton has been training with his parent club Brighton & Hove Albion during the initial weeks of pre-season and will also link up with the squad for warm weather training in Spain.
Defender Dan Burn, who had a minor groin operation during the off-season, is now back training on the grass and is likely to make his first pre-season appearance against Chesterfield on Wednesday 25 July following Latics' return from Spain.
