In our bid to get to know summer recruit Kal Naismith that little bit better, we sat down with the Rangers academy graduate during our time with the team in La Cala, Spain, last week, with the 26-year-old telling us all about his boyhood hero Paul Gascoigne in the first episode of our brand new podcast, Latics Listen.
On the former Rangers, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio, Middlesbrough and Everton man, Naismith said:
"Being a Rangers fan and him being a former Rangers player makes Gazza an all-time great in my eyes.
"My Mum bought me a DVD and it was Gazza's DVD from when he came over from Lazio and signed for Rangers. It was a documentary purely about him and I probably watched it every night for a year or two.
"I loved the way he played the game, he was obviously so good, he was a genius. He had a laugh off the pitch, he was a great character off it, but once he was on the field he took his job incredibly seriously. I also loved the way he had a laugh with his team mates and pulled pranks all the time."
