Wigan Athletic captain Samy Morsy earned his fifth senior cap for the Egypt national team on Wednesday evening, featuring as a second half substitute in the Pharaohs' 3-0 defeat to Roberto Martinez's Belgium in both nations' final warm up games ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard had Belgium 2-0 in front ahead of Morsy's introduction in place of Tarek Hamed, and despite a combative performance from the 26-year-old, Egypt suffered a 3-0 defeat, with Marouane Fellaini adding a third in second half stoppage time.
Egypt will now face Uruguay in their opening FIFA World Cup group stage match on Friday 15 June, before facing hosts Russia on Tuesday 19 June and Saudi Arabia in their final Group A fixture on Monday 25 June.
