Speaking to iFollow Latics at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre on Friday morning, Latics boss Paul Cook gave the latest team news ahead of his side's Sky Bet League One trip to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
Nick Powell (hamstring) and Nathan Byrne (calf) are available for selection following minor lay-offs for Latics' 1-0 victory over Rochdale on Saturday, with captain Samy Morsy set to return to the starting XI following a two-game suspension for picking up 10 yellow cards.
Both Powell and Byrne have been given extended recovery and fitness periods after Latics' trip to Bristol Rovers was postponed on Tuesday, allowing for extra training time for the group.
Forward Dominic Samuel missed Rovers' 3-1 away victory at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night due to an ankle injury picked up against Walsall last weekend, with manager Tony Mowbray cautious of a return on Sunday, telling the Lancashire Telegraph:
“He got caught pretty late on in the Walsall game and it has swollen up quite badly.
“We decided that it would be best him getting treatment for two days rather than travelling and then getting back at half three in the morning.
“We hope he'll be back for Wigan, but we will wait and see.”

“The treatment room is looking pretty empty, which is good at this time of the season," he says. "Whittingham and Gladwin are back training, but there’s no need to rush them." #Rovers
Craig Conway has been asbent for the last three matches with a hamstring complaint, Harry Chapman has also been missing with a similar problem since Rovers' visit to the DW Stadium in November, and Ben Gladwin has been suffering with a knee injury.
Jack Payne couldn't complete Rovers' victory over the Dons in midweek, picking up a knock early in the second half.
