Paul Cook’s Latics are looking to book their place in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium as they host Premier League side Southampton at the DW Stadium on Sunday.
There is no real history between the two sides as Latics have only played Southampton three times in their history. Latics are hopeful of making another famous FA Cup Wembley appearance by beating the Saints this weekend, having won the competition in 2013 against Manchester City, and reached the semi-final the following year against Arsenal.

Stoke City boss will be looking to stop Latics from making their fifth Wembley appearance in as many years. He will also have one eye on their Premier League fixtures with the Saints currently threatened by relegation in 17th place.
Latics will have their sights set on Wembley and are in confident mood following their last gasp win over Bradford City in Sky Bet League One on Wednesday night. Promotion back to the Championship is Paul Cook’s aim this season but Sunday’s focus will be on FA Cup glory.
