Latics recorded their second successive victory with a hard-fought win over Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
- Match Report: Accrington Stanley 0-1 Latics Development Squad.
- Ellie Cleary's injury-time goal earned the visitors all three points.
- Second successive league win for Danny Mather's side.
Ellie Cleary’s last-gasp finish with what was virtually the last kick of the game won a fiercely contested fixture against Accrington Stanley on Sunday.
Cleary had already rattled the crossbar and blasted another effort just over minutes previously as Latics finished the game strongly.
Their efforts were rewarded however deep into second half injury time as Cleary burst through a tight space to send herself clear on goal and coolly slot past home keeper Naomi Entwistle – cue wild celebrations.
It was one of few moments of quality in a game where Latics were forced to defend for lengthy spells while being patient in their build-up play. Georgia Atherton went closest in the first half when she shot into the side netting.
For Stanley, Kiera Donohoe was brilliantly denied by Nicole Cassar in goal, who was unfortunately forced off through injury after the save, but Latics held on to claim a vital three points in difficult circumstances.
