WALSALL v WIGAN ATHLETIC
SKY BET LEAGUE ONE
WEDNESDAY 21 MARCH 2018
BANKS'S STADIUM
KICK OFF 7.45PM

PRE-MATCH BUILD-UP

Latics head to the Banks's Stadium looking for back-to-back victories in Sky Bet League One following their stoppage time victory at Bradford City last Wednesday, but they'll be up against yet another tough test, with Walsall buoyant after the appointment of former player Dean Keates as manager.

The former Wrexham boss has yet to lead his team out in League One, with the Saddlers' scheduled match against Latics re-arranged from last Saturday due to Paul Cook's side's involvement in the Emirates FA Cup quarter final against Southampton.

Latics have the opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Blackburn Rovers to two points, whilst Walsall will be looking to turn around back-to-back defeats and ease their relegation fears.

TEAM NEWS

Samy Morsy Egypt

Latics will be without captain Samy Morsy for the trip to Walsall, with the 26-year-old part of the Egypt national team squad for friendlies against Portugal and Greece.

Nick Powell recovered from his hamstring tweak last Wednesday to appear as a substitute against Southampton in the FA Cup, and looks ready to be involved again this week, with Cook and his management team having a fully fit squad to choose from.

Walsall's only complaint remains Joe Edwards, who is a long-term absentee due to an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury.
