A reminder to Latics supporters that pitch encroachment would prevent post-match celebrations at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday evening.

  • Message to Wigan Athletic supporters travelling to Doncaster Rovers
  • Over 4,000 fans will travel to Doncaster on Saturday 5 May, kick-off 5:30pm
  • Pitch encroachment would prevent Latics from enjoying a potential trophy celebration in front of travelling fans

Thank you to all of our supporters for your incredible backing in the 2017-18 season – you have been superb.

Over 4,000 Latics fans will head to the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster on Saturday afternoon, hoping to see Paul Cook’s side secure the Sky Bet League One title.

Should Latics do just that, Doncaster Rovers have kindly granted permission for a trophy presentation at their stadium following the conclusion of the game.

However, this will not take place should any Latics supporter encroach the pitch, before, during or after the game.

As the match is Doncaster’s final home game of the season, the club wish quite rightly to take the time to thank their supporters with a lap of appreciation following the full-time whistle.

Once this has concluded - and should Latics have secured the Sky Bet League One title - the potential trophy presentation will commence in front of over 4,000 travelling supporters.

This could potentially be a wonderful afternoon for players, staff and supporters together ahead of the Promotion Party in the Park on Sunday.

The safety of players, managers, fans and match officials is of paramount importance and supporters who encroach on the pitch risk facing banning orders as well as a criminal conviction. Our supporters represent Wigan Athletic and we encourage fans to respect our hosts and their stadium as we would expect from visiting supporters at the DW Stadium.

Please refrain from entering the playing area and stay safe as the team look to secure the trophy.
