Latics pair Jensen Weir and Joe Gelhardt continued their excellent progress with England's Under 17s on Thursday evening, with the duo starting in the Young Lions' 3-1 victory over Republic of Ireland.
Weir featured for the full 90 minutes in Ireland to help secure the win in England's first of three fixtures during the November international period, with games against Germany and Czech Republic still to come. Gelhardt played 63 minutes of the game and impressed early on, forcing Ireland goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran into a string of saves.
Latics' Under 18 duo were involved in September's Syrenka Cup triumph and last month's friendly tournament victories against USA, Russia and Brazil, with Gelhardt scoring three goals during the mini-campaign.
England are back in action again on Sunday when they face Germany and again on Wednesday against Czech Republic.
