Latics U15s maintained their impressive start to Floodlit Cup after a convincing 4-0 win over Rochdale at Hyde United on Wednesday evening.
With a 2-0 win over Liverpool, a narrow 1-0 win over Everton and now a 4-0 thrashing of Rochdale, Latics have put themselves in pole position in their group ahead of another three more games.
Another goal for top-scorer Kian Monks handed him his fourth of the competition, as well as Joe Hayley, Arthur Lomax and Alfey Devine also getting on the scoresheet in a rampant Latics performance.
Latics face Liverpool in their next game on Wednesday 5th December, before playing Everton and Rochdale for the second time in their group, in which the top two teams will enter the knock-out stages.
Youth Development Phase Coach, Kieran Driscoll has said his players have done brilliantly, but admits the players are fully focused on taking each game as it comes:
“The lads have done well, it’s important we keep the run going and build our confidence ahead of the next game”, he said.
“It’s a great start to the competition, but we have to keep performing in the same manner each game and take it one game at a time.”
Driscoll also spoke of the positivity around the dressing room following another stellar performance:
“Wins like this give you confidence, and there’s a really good feeling with the group, they all had smiles on their faces in training and that’s the beauty of the tournament.
“We know we can compete against anyone and our intention is to go into every game and win six from six, but we need to stay focused and work hard every day.”
