EARLY TEAM NEWS

Speaking to iFollow Latics at the Wigan Athletic Training Centre on Tuesday morning, Latics boss Paul Cook gave the latest news on his squad, including an update on Everton loanee and USA international Antonee Robinson.

"Jedi (Antonee Robinson) had an operation and will be out for around 10 weeks, but I was very happy with how Kal Naismith filled in for him on Saturday.

"We do have a genuine need for a left back come January and that's something we're already looking at."

Playmaker Nick Powell was forced off after 64 minutes in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Reading, but his manager is keeping his cards close to his chest with regards to team selection on Wednesday night.

"When you've got the injuries like we've had recently it's important not to give too much away."

Latics continue to be without longer term injured players Gavin Massey (hamstring), Michael Jacobs (hamstring) and Chey Dunkley (knee), but saw the welcome return of Will Grigg from his hamstring issue on Saturday.

For Tony Mowbray's Blackburn, Elliott Bennett will miss the visit to the DW Stadium due to suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in their 4-1 defeat at Preston North End on Saturday, whilst Dominic Samuel (ACL) and Ben Gladwin (knee) remain long term injuries.

Corry Evans missed Saturday's visit to Deepdale, but could be recalled.
