Latics host Blackpool in the quarter-finals of the Lancashire FA Cup at Christopher Park this afternoon.

The Under 18s come off the back of a 3-0 win over Blackpool’s local rivals Fleetwood Town on Saturday, courtesy of a brace from James Berry and a late solo-strike from forward, Divin Baningime.

The victory extended Latics’ lead at the top of the EFL Youth Alliance to seven points, with Blackpool in second place, having played two games more than their counterparts.

The two clubs last met in May, with Latics coming from behind to secure victory, courtesy of goals from Victor Maffeo and Joe Downey. Though, Nick Chadwick’s side were to miss out on the title by one point, with Rochdale being crowned champions earlier in the week.

Blackpool come into the fixture full of confidence and will be looking to maintain their run of form, with six goals in their last two games.

Victories over Preston North End and Wrexham have seen the Tangerines leapfrog into second, four points ahead of third placed Rochdale.

Academy manager, Gregor Rioch, is likely to make a few changes to the side that beat Fleetwood Town last weekend, with Joe Gelhardt in the frame to return following his recent injury. Goalkeeper Jordan Perrin, defender Louis Isherwood and midfielder Neil Monaghan could also feature.
