More good news on the international scene as Reece James, Joe Gelhardt, Jensen Weir and Luke Robinson earn call-ups for October.

  • Internationals: Reece James named in England U20 squad to face Italy and Czech Republic.
  • England duo Jensen Weir and Joe Gelhardt included in U17s squad.
  • Full back Luke Robinson joins Kyle Joseph in the Scotland U18 squad.

Four more Latics players have been recognised by their countries ahead of the October international fixtures, with Reece James, Jensen Weir and Joe Gelhardt all called up by England, whilst U18s full back Luke Robinson joins striker Kyle Joseph in the Scotland U18 squad.

James, who has featured in every league game for Latics on loan from Chelsea and was recently named Currys PC World Wigan Player of the Month for September, links up with England's U20s, with Weir and Gelhardt continuing their development in the U17 squad.

Robinson's addition to the Scotland U18 squad will see the defender and his Latics team mate Joseph face Uzbekistan and France.

It's another proud moment for the club's Academy, with four players set to represent Latics on the international stage.

Head of Academy, Gregor Rioch said:

"It's great news for Luke. He joined us as a 15-year-old from Wrexham and has worked tirelessly to develop both as a player and as a person.

"He's a tough tackling and attack minded full back who I'm sure will be great addition to Scotland's squad for their upcoming games and it's nice to see him alongside his team mate Kyle Joseph, who himself has continued to impress with nine goals across our Under 18s and Development Squad."

Latics' international interest also extends into senior teams, with Will Grigg set for UEFA Nations League action with Northern Ireland, Samy Morsy set for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Egypt and Antonee Robinson included in the United States Men's National Team to face Colombia and Peru. Goalkeeper Owen Evans continues his time in the Wales U21 squad, with qualifiers for the U21 UEFA European Championships against Romania and Switzerland.
