As we build up to the return of first team football against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, here's what's happening at Wigan Athletic this week.

  • Coming up this week: West Bromwich Albion (H), Tranmere Rovers (A) and the remaining international fixtures.
  • Latics' first team return to action on Saturday at the DW Stadium.
  • Our Under 18s look to make it 10 wins from 10 games on Saturday morning.

Latics return to first team action this week with the visit of West Bromwich Albion to the DW Stadium on Saturday 20 October, as Paul Cook's side look to return to winning ways following the latest round of international fixtures...

Here's what's coming up across the club and involving our players this week...

Monday 15 October

Reece James completes his international fixtures with England's Under 20s as they take on Czech Republic.

Tuesday 16 October

Samy Morsy, Antonee Robinson, Owen Evans, Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir all complete their international schedules.

Morsy and Egypt face Swaziland for the second time in five days in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, whilst Robinson and the USA take on Peru.

Goalkeeper Evans and Wales' U21s finish off their UEFA U21 European Championship qualifying group at home to Switzerland, whilst Latics' England U17 duo of Gelhardt and Weir face Brazil at AFC Telford.

Wednesday 17 October

Latics' scheduled Development Squad fixture away at Port Vale is postponed. This fixture will now take place on Tuesday 6 November at 1.00pm.

Thursday 18 October

Every Player Counts disability football tournament – The Community Trust will be hosting a disability football tournament for local schools at Powerleague Wigan from 10.30am-2.30pm. The Every Player Counts programme aims to get more people with disabilities in Wigan to get involved in football and sport.
The 11th episode of our official podcast returns as we catch up with Samy Morsy, talk all things USA and Antonee Robinson with Sam's Army podcast from across the Atlantic, and Guy Clarke speaks to a Latics vs West Bromwich Albion household as we build up to the return of first team action... and we could have a familiar voice on the phone as well... he's comes from Austria.

Friday 19 October

Tickets for Latics' first team trip to Millwall will be available online until 5.00pm, with tickets then available by phone and in person only ahead of the fixture at the Den on Tuesday 23 October.

As usual on a Friday we'll have pre-match build-up from Paul Cook, early team news from the Wigan Athletic Training Centre and everything West Brom related in our preview content, including some classic goals!

Friday is the closing date for applications for the Academy Performance Analyst - Professional Development Phase vacancy. Apply here.

Saturday 20 October

We return to first team action against West Bromwich Albion at the DW Stadium! Tickets are available online, by phone and in person.

Our Under 18s also return to action with a trip to Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Youth Alliance, looking to add to their seven wins from as many games in the league and nine wins from nine in all competitions.

Latics' loan players will also be in action, with the following fixtures:

Plymouth Argyle v Burton Albion (Sky Bet League One)
Peterborough United v Accrington Stanley (Sky Bet League One)
Morecambe FC v Colchester United (Sky Bet League Two)
Oldham Athletic v Port Vale (Sky Bet League Two)
Chorley FC v Barrow AFC (FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round)
Kidderminster Harriers v FC United (National League North)

Saturday's match day activities include
Wigan Youth Zone’s Big Day Out at the DW Stadium! Representatives from the Youth Zone, one of the club’s official charities, will be running activities in the Family Zone ahead of the game, while members will also be bucket collecting around the ground to raise vital funds.

Together Cup – the club will be hosting their second Together Cup event at Robin Park Arena from 10.30am-12.30pm, with the tournament aimed at under-represented groups from across the Wigan Borough. All participants will be given tickets to the club’s first team fixture later in the afternoon.
