PC on upcoming fixtures
"Every game offers a different challenge and we’re going into a run of fixtures that are tough, but we know that and we’re not stupid. Managing people’s expectations is what football is all about now and also managing the players’ expectations, because they’re on a downer after losing a goal late on, just like at Norwich and Aston Villa, and then all of a sudden it becomes in people’s minds.
"We’ve got to clear that and realise what we’re trying to achieve because there’s teams below such as Aston Villa and Stoke City, so for me we’re doing great and people don’t always realise that. "
PC on expectations
"Every team in the division will have expectations and for me as a manager they have to be realistic. We know our realistic expectations and when we’ve had a good run like we’ve had they can sometimes get a little carried away, but sometimes when we’ve had disappointment those expectations drop dramatically.
"Managing the players to achieve what I believe we can is achieve is important to me, and along the way the games we play are fantastic."
PC on team news
"We’re a little bit stretched and the team on Tuesday would have been a realisation to our supporters of what we need to do now and again, so we go to Sheffield United with a squad of players that’s wanting to win the game."
PC on Sheffield United
"From the teams I’ve seen this year they’re the best side in the division for me. They have all the right fits in all the right places and Chris has put together a team without being extravagant and spending the money other teams have spent, but they’re good, they’re very, very good. It’s a massive challenge for us because they’re a strong team with very good players."
PC on believing Latics can win at Bramall Lane
"I watched them at Blackburn the other week and they were excellent. They’ve got strength in depth and the squad put together by Chris Wilder is very good and their style is very good. We’ve got to go there and believe we can win though and impose our style and create chances and score goals."
