KICK-OFF 7.45PM

Latics return home to the DW Stadium for the first time since beating Rotherham United 1-0 before the international fixtures at the start of September, with eyes firmly set on bouncing back from Saturday's 2-0 defeat away at Brentford.

It's the first of two home fixtures this week, with Hull City and our former goalkeeper Nigel Adkins visiting on Tuesday evening, before Bristol City arrive at the DW on Friday night.

Adkins' Tigers come into the game off the back of an impressive performance and 2-0 victory at home to Ipswich Town at the weekend, with a trip to Reading ahead of them this week on Saturday.

EARLY TEAM NEWS

Latics could see a starting return for midfielder Darron Gibson who featured from the bench for the first time since picking up an injury on the opening day of the season against Sheffield Wednesday, with the former Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland midfielder likely to step in for the Samy Morsy if his suspension is upheld following his red card against Brentford FC on Saturday.

Latics boss Paul Cook confirmed the club will be appealing the decision, but it is yet to be known whether Morsy will be involved on Tuesday.

Michael Jacobs will also be available for selection following his return to the bench after injury. Joe Garner also continued his involvement with another appearance from the bench at Griffin Park, whilst Will Grigg went unused following his time away on international duty with Northern Ireland.

Dan Burn and Gavin Massey remain sidelined, with the latter out for long term and Burn due to return to training this week.

Nigel Adkins has two injury concerns ahead of Tuesday night's game, with Daniel Batty a doubt with a knee injury following a knock during Hull's 2-0 win against Ipswich Town on Saturday, whilst Stephen Kingsley is to be assessed due to a knock to his ribs.

On loan Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick is likely to continue in defence following on from his debut clean sheet on Saturday, with Chris Martin set to be involved in the 18-man squad after his debut from the bench on loan from Derby County.
