Reflecting pre-match, Fox – who helped Latics to keep a clean sheet against Brentford last-time out – said:

“I’m looking forward to getting a run together and it was nice to be back out there with the boys last weekend against Brentford.

“I felt we kept them at bay for large parts of the game and I thought we had the best chances to go on and get the three points too, but it’s another point towards where we want to be.

“It was nice to get a clean sheet, but obviously disappointing not to get the goal that we were looking for and desperate for during the game, but it’s a positive point in my opinion."

The defender also praised a spirited Latics group and turned his attention to Bristol City on Saturday.

“We need to take that into our away form too, we’ve got some tough away games coming up and it starts against Bristol City at Ashton Gate tomorrow which we’re looking forward too, but we know we can hurt them going forward as well.

“The whole squad is pulling together to get to our objective at the end of the season and as long as I can play my part in it then I will be happy as well.”

Fox, who joined Cook’s side in January from Nottingham Forest, also reflected on his time so far for the club and stated his desire to finish the season off strongly.

“I’m grateful for the gaffer and his coaching staff for taking me into the club, they’ve put that ownness on me to deliver that experience.

“The lads are brilliant, I felt within a few weeks that I was comfortable around them, every single one of them is brilliant with me and I can’t thank them enough for that because they’ve always been welcoming, and I think that’s helped me with my performances on the pitch.

“We just need to worry about ourselves, I know from being in this dressing room since January that we’ve got more than enough and there’s no reason why we can’t finish the season strongly.”
