Latics' Under 18s face local rivals Preston North End in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup final on Saturday, with Peter Murphy’s side aiming to win the competition for the second consecutive season.

Murphy's EFL Youth Alliance champions are looking to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season last weekend against their cup final opponents, a team they beat 4-1 in the 2018 final at Christopher Park.

Latics' road to the final saw them beat Blackpool 4-0 in the quarter-final and Rochdale 5-0 in the Semi-Final.

Goals from Luke Robinson, Will McGuffie, Charlie Jolley (2) and Joe Gelhardt secured a convincing win over Dale at Christopher Park, with their sights firmly on the final.

Meanwhile, opponents Preston North End have also had an impressive run leading up to the final, with a hard-fought 7-6 win on penalties against Bury FC in the quarter-final, before cruising to a 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the semi-final, setting up a repeat of last season’s final against Latics.
