Rotherham United A

Latics have been given a handful of fitness boosts ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship trip to Rotherham United, with Gavin Massey (hamstring) and Antonee Robinson (ankle) returning to action in a behind closed doors friendly against Fleetwood Town on Wednesday afternoon. Both Massey and Robinson have been out with long-term injuries, but are now available for selection.

You can hear from Antonee on the latest episode of our podcast, Latics Listen, below.

More good news followed on Wednesday evening when Paul Cook revealed that Nick Powell has returned to training this week after a calf injury provided a set back on his return from an initial hamstring problem.

Cook also gave the news of a potential return to the starting XI for Chey Dunkley due to Cedric Kipre picking up a minor knock.

New additions Beni Baningime and Jonas Olsson stepped up their claims for a place in the team, with the duo featuring in Wednesday's friendly match.

Captain Samy Morsy will serve the second game of his suspenson, with Danny Fox likely to continue with the armband on Saturday.

Midfielder Ben Wiles suffered a back complaint in the build-up to Rotherham United's 0-0 draw with Millwall last week, whilst Ryan Williams remains doubtful and is more likely to return against Hull City next week.

Joe Newell returned to Paul Warne's squad last weekend on the bench, but was an unused substitute, whilst Kyle Vassell made his return from injury from the bench.

Meanwhile, defender Sean Raggett is said to be a few weeks away from a return.
