LOAN REPORT: JOE PIGGOTT MAKES ALTRINCHAM DEBUT, WHILST CRANKSHAW AND CURZON ASHTON WIN YET AGAIN

10 February 2019

Callum Lang, Joe Piggott and Olly Crankshaw all involved in the weekend's matches.

  • Loan Update: Three Latics players involved in the weekend's EFL and National League action.
  • The National League North play-off chase hots up, with Olly Crankshaw and Joe Piggott both claiming victories.
  • Callum Lang featured in Oldham Athletic's convincing win away at Crawley Town.

OLLY CRANKSHAW

After picking up the Kingdom Latics Goal of the Month award for January earlier in the week and following on from a dazzling display in Curzon Ashton's 8-0 win against Chadderton in the Manchester Premier Cup, Olly Crankshaw was again heavily involved in another win for the Nash this weekend.

The 20-year-old forced an own goal to help pull his side level at 2-2 against Alfreton Town, with Curzon forced to come from behind with 10-men following a first half dismissal.

Crankshaw and co. managed to push 3-2 in front, before the forward won a late penalty but unfortunately saw the spot kick saved.

Since joining Latics in January from the National League North side and returning on loan, Crankshaw has been in excellent form, helping the Nash to seven wins from eight games in all competitions to rise up to 11th place in the league on 41 points, just four points from the final play-off place.

CALLUM LANG

With Leo Da Silva Lopes and James Vaughan unused substitutes this weekend, forward Callum Lang was the only loanee involved in EFL action.

Oldham Athletic ran out comfortable 3-0 winners away at Crawley Town in Sky Bet League Two in their final match before former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes stepped in to manage the first team.

Lang featured for the full 90 minutes as the Latics rose to 14th in the table on 42 points, nine points from the play-offs with a game in hand.

JOE PIGGOTT

Development Squad striker Joe Piggott made his debut out on loan at National League North side Altrincham on Saturday, with Alty running out 2-1 winners away at strugglers FC United on Manchester.

The victory sees Altrincham in the final play-off place of seventh.
