We are delighted to announce the January winner of the Kingdom Services Goal of the Month... Olly Crankshaw, for his superb goal against Morecambe for the Development Squad in the Central League.
The 20-year-old forward's excellent effort into the top corner during Latics' 3-1 win against the Shrimps at Christopher Park on Tuesday 15 January was on of two of his goals in the running for the award, with a second, and similar, strike the following week in a 6-0 win against Mansfield Town.
Crankshaw, who joined Latics from Curzon Ashton in January and is currently back on loan with the National League North side, was presented with his award by his Development Squad coach Nick Chadwick and representative from Kingdom Services former Latics captain Neill Rimmer at Christopher Park this Thursday.
Olly's goal beat off competition from his peers in the Development Squad, three first team goals from Gary Roberts, Michael Jacobs and Josh Windass, and three strikes from our unbeaten Under 18s, with Joe Gelhardt's second goal against Hull City in the FA Youth Cup finishing second and Roberts' pearler against Aston Villa in third place.
This season’s Goal of the Month awards are brought to you by Kingdom Services. Watch out for the February vote at the end of this month!
An equal number of goals from the first team, Development Squad and Under 18s will be selected each month for you to choose from.
