Latics' leading goal scorers in the 1987-88 season combined to produce a routine 3-0 victory at Springfield Park, but it was a win that was well overdue, having failed to claim three points in any of their previous seven matches.

Paul Jewell's opener and Bobby Campbell's double sparked a run a three consecutive victories, in which, current Latics manager Paul Cook netted winning goals in 1-0s against Chesterfield and Southend United.

Gary Teale and Jason Roberts helped to provide a routine victory over Rotherham United as Paul Jewell's Latics continued their march towards the Premier League in 2005.

Little did he know at the time, but Rotherham goalkeeper Mike Pollitt would join Latics' Premier League journey seven months later. Former Latics forward and current Rotherham boss Paul Warne also featured on the day for the Millers.

With Rotherham United already resigned to their fate of a season in Sky Bet League One, Nick Powell came off the bench to seal what, at the time, was a crucial victory in Latics' own fight to survive in the Sky Bet Championship.

Danny Ward and Anthony Forde both grabbed goals for the visitors to twice put the Millers ahead, with Gabriel Obertan and Alex Gilbey on target to equalise on both occasions, but it was Powell who stole the show late on, with a little bit of help from Rotherham keeper Lewis Price, who bizarrely jumepd on Powell's back off the ball to conceded a late free kick on the edge of his own penalty area. Powell gladly stepped up to slap the ball over the wall and beyond Price to a last-gasp victory.
