Latics are all set for fifth round action in the FA Youth Cup this Wednesday evening, with a trip to Chester FC to face Liverpool on the cards for Peter Murphy and the club's Under 18 team.
Speaking ahead of the challenge in front of Latics' young charges, U18 coach Murphy said:
“We’re a Category Three Academy, so I think it’s good were testing ourselves against the elite within the country”, he said.
“Liverpool are a Category One side, it will be a test for us, but it will be good to see how we come up against it."
Murphy also said his players will be ready and prepared for the game on Wednesday night:
“The players are looking forward to playing such a big club, it’s a massive occasion for us and they will go and embrace every moment.
“It will be interesting to see how they come up against it, they will go into the game wanting to give it a go and express themselves, which is what they do in every game."
The manager also provided a squad update ahead of Latics’ clash with Liverpool:
“We have a clean bill of health, which is always great as a coach to chose from in these games”, he said.
“Ollie Broe has also recovered from an injury, so it’s great to have him back and amongst the group.”
