LAST VISIT

Latics were last at Hillsborough in September 2016 when Will Grigg's opener looked to have set Gary Caldwell's side on their way to a result only for goals from Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri to turn the game on its head and earn the Owls a 2-1 win.

EARLY TEAM NEWS

Nick Powell (hamstring) returned to training on Monday morning and has been working towards his return, whilst Gavin Massey (hamstring) isn't far behind, and Antonee Robinson (ankle) continues to make progress towards a February comeback.

On Powell, Cook said:

"Nick's not fit enough to be involved this weekend and he felt his calf a little bit earlier in the week, so we have to take our time with him."

He continued:

"It's been a strong training week and we're delighted with the numbers at our disposal. We've trained well and even with the cold snap we've had over the last few days we've managed to get out as normal. That's credit to the facilities we have at the training ground and the staff who help us to prepare."

Michael Jacobs, who made a goal scoring return last week in the 3-0 win against Aston Villa, could push for a starting place, whilst Anthony Pilkington, who won Man of the Match on his debut at the DW Stadium last Saturday, will be looking to continue his excellent start.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

The Owls were in FA Cup action on Tuesday and made just three changes from their 3-0 defeat away at Hull City last Saturday, with Cameron Dawson replacing Keiren Westwood in goal, Jordan Thorniley in for Sam Hutchinson and Marco Matias in for Atdhe Nuhiu.

Hutchinson was deemed 50-50 for the game, Westwood missed out with a toe injury and Joey Pelupessy wasn't involved following an ankle injury against Hull in the Championship.
