Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Jamie Jones spoke to iFollow Latics after returning to the side in Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup defeat at West Bromwich Albion.
Jones, who started his first game since Latics’ Carabao Cup defeat at Rotherham United in August, said:
“It sums us up at the minute; it’s frustrating and nothing is really falling for us. It is disappointing to get beat but we will give absolutely everything in every single game.
“We are a professional group, a young group and we’re learning and things will turn round.
“We are working hard, we didn’t deserve that today but we have to kick on and push hard in the “league.
“We had chances to get back in the game, played some good stuff at times and got the ball wide but once again it wasn’t our day.
“We have the hunger and desire, things will change. The fans were outstanding today, they followed us today like they do every week, they gave us their support and were like an extra man out there. We can’t thank them enough and things will turn around.”
Whilst focus turns to Latics’ Sky Bet Championship campaign, Jones added he would have liked a Cup run following last year’s exploits in the competition.
“It would have been good to have an FA Cup run, we had one last year and it was unbelievable,” Jones added. “We are gutted to be out but we have to focus on the league and push up the table because we believe we have the players to do that.”
