Peter Murphy's Latics kick off pre-season with a convincing victory over the Baggies.

  • U18 Pre-Season | West Bromwich Albion 0 Latics 3.
  • Treble-winning U18s kick off pre-season with confident victory.
  • Luke Robinson, Marcus Snell and Adam Brooks on the score sheet.

Fresh off the back of their treble-winning 2018-19 campaign, Peter Murphy's Under 18s kicked off pre-season as if they'd never been away, confidently beating West Bromwich Albion 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Goals from Scotland youth international Luke Robinson, first year scholar Marcus Snell and U16 star Adam Brooks sealed the win, with a number of his fellow U16s involved on the afternoon as the majority of the U18 squad completed 45 or 60 minutes each.

Latics opened the scoring when Robinson overlapped from his full back position to collect Thelo Aasgaard's outstanding slipped pass. The Norwegian playmaker turned his marker in midfield with ease, before playing the defence splitting ball for his left back to turn home.

Murphy's side doubled their lead when MacKenzie O'Neill found Snell, with the first year's resulting cross curling all the way in past the Baggies' keeper.

A duo well-known to followers of Latics' Under 15 Premier League Floodlit Cup run, Brooks and Kian Monks, linked up for the third goal, the former finding Brooks on the counter attack to allow him to slide his shot under the keeper for 3-0.
