Wigan Athletic are delighted to confirm goalkeeper David Marshall as the club’s first summer signing, with the experienced stopper signing a two-year deal at the DW Stadium.
Scotland international Marshall has recently left Hull City after three seasons with The Tigers, including one in the Premier League.
Previously, Marshall had won promotion from the second tier to the top flight with Cardiff City, where he played 291 times over seven seasons and won the Player of the Year award in the Bluebirds’ 2013-14 Premier League campaign.
Marshall is a former teammate of Latics’ Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff City) and Danny Fox (Scotland) and brings with him a wealth of Championship experience, having played 10 of his 12 seasons in England in the second tier, following his move south of the border from Celtic.
