FORMER LIVERPOOL DEFENDER MARK LAWRENSON HELPS TO LAUNCH EFL’S EXTRA-TIME HUB AT THE DW STADIUM

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson helps launch EFL Extra Time Hub initiative at the DW Stadium.

  • EFL Trust and Sport England’s Extra Time Hub launched to coincide with Loneliness Awareness week to bring retired and semi-retired people together

Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland defender Mark Lawrenson attended the Extra-Time Hub initiative run by Wigan Athletic Community Trust at the DW Stadium, as people over 55 from the Wigan Borough were able to engage in different activities, ranging from physical activity to crafts and quizzes.

The Mayor of Wigan was also present as local retired and semi-retired men and women took part in a quiz, crafts, dance, table tennis and badminton.

Launched to coincide with Loneliness Awareness Week, the Extra Time Hubs will harness the unique assets of EFL clubs and their network to bring older people together and provide a range of activities that could benefit their physical and mental health.
