Latics aim to keep on the pressure at the top of the Central League table when they visit Mansfield Town on Tuesday, with Nick Chadwick’s side unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions.

An impressive 2-1 win over Port Vale last-time out saw Latics grab all three points at Christopher Park training ground, despite falling behind in the first-half.

Goals from Joe Gelhardt and trialist, Louis Doyle won the game for a strong Latics development squad with five minutes to spare as Antonee Robinson, Callum McManaman and Gary Roberts all featured for Nick Chadwick’s side.

Despite their last defeat coming in January at the hands of Doncaster Rovers (2-3), Latics have looked a strong outfit since, winning three of their last four games, scoring 13 goals and conceding five, as they aim to close the gap at the top of the table.

The two teams last met in January, with Latics running away 6-0 winners against an experienced Mansfield side at Christopher Park training ground.

Forward, Joe Piggott stole the show for Latics with a hat-trick, as well as Olly Crankshaw, Jolley and Gelhardt ensuring a comfortable win over the visitors.

Mansfield Town will be hoping to keep the pressure on fourth-placed Doncaster Rovers, sitting two points behind the latter in the Central League table.

The Stags will be aiming to put their run of form right on Tuesday, with only two wins from their last five Central League games, with three defeats.

Defeats against Wigan Athletic (0-6), Rotherham United (1-3) and Doncaster Rovers (0-1) saw them drop down the table, though, impressive wins over Morecambe (3-1) and most recently Grimsby Town (2-1) have seen the Stags extend their gap over sixth-placed Notts County as they look to finish the season off strongly.

TEAM NEWS

Chadwick will be provided with a squad boost ahead of Tuesdays fixture, with youth loan players, Ollie Crankshaw (Curzon Ashton) and Joe Piggott (Altrincham FC) both available for Latics.
