  • International Update: Bobby Jones - Republic of Ireland Under 18s.
  • Goalkeeper makes debut in a 0-0 draw against Turkey.
  • Jones is a first year apprentice in Latics' title-chasing Under 18s.

Congratulations are in order for Under 18s goalkeeper Bobby Jones, who made his international debut on Saturday afternoon in a 0-0 draw against Turkey.

The 17-year-old was an unused substitute in Republic of Ireland's 4-0 defeat to Turkey last Thursday, but was introduced for 30 minutes in the second of the double-header, helping his side to a clean sheet.

Jones, who has formed a key part of Latics' back five in the EFL Youth Alliance and cup competitions, became Latics' seventh active youth international within the Under 18 squad, following in the footsteps of Jensen Weir (England), Joe Gelhardt (England), MacKenzie O'Neill (Northern Ireland), Thelo Aasgaard (Norway), Kyle Joseph (Scotland) and Luke Robinson (Scotland).
