Centre back Adam Long happy with another clean sheet, but insists Latics will do more to break teams down in the coming weeks.

  • EFL Youth Alliance: Adam Long reacts to Latics' 0-0 draw with Fleetwood Town.
  • Latics now 11 points clear as league leaders.
  • "We've been a solid defensive unit all season." - Adam Long.

Speaking after Latics' 0-0 draw away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday morning, central defender Adam Long gave his thoughts after his side's third straight draw in the EFL Youth Alliance, a division they now lead by an impressive 11 points.

After picking up the team's 14th clean sheet in all competitions, the 18-year-old said:

“From a defensive perspective it’s going well, I just think we need to get that clinical edge back that we’ve showed before in the past few games.

“Teams are seeing how we play so they’re just wanting to sit off us, put eleven men behind the ball and make life difficult for us.

“We’ve been a solid defensive unit all season so it’s pleasing, especially when you get the clean sheet, it helps you get a bit more recognition.

“It wasn’t our game, we didn’t take our chances which happens sometimes, Divin (Baningime) had a few but we will work on taking them in the next game.

“Everyone’s looking forward to the Bury game, it will be a bit more tactical in terms of our preparation in the week but hopefully we can go there and show what were made of”.
