Speaking after Latics' visit to Derby County on Tuesday for the latest episode of our podcast, Latics Listen, midfielder Lee Evans reflected on the game against the Rams and looked ahead to this weekend's clash with Reading FC at the Madejski Stadium.

Listen to the interview below from 11:21, or read an excerpt from his chat.

How important is it to turn the emotion from Tuesday night into a positive result on Saturday?

“It’s massive, it’s the biggest game of our season so we’ve got to prepare right.

“We’ve got to analyse them, recover well and we will give everything for the cause.”

“It’s a huge game for both teams, each club knows where they would like to be so I think there will be only one goal in it, and we need to make sure that one goal goes in our favour."

How good were the fans on Tuesday and how important are they in terms of pushing the team on for the final few games of the campaign?

“We were all bitterly disappointed for them on Tuesday, we haven’t won on the road in ages and I thought it was going to be the night to send them home happy but unfortunately not.

“We will aim to make Saturday the day they go home with three points.”

The change to a midfield three in the last few games with Reece James and Sam Morsy has allowed you to get further forward and press the opposition more, how have you felt playing in that three?

“I’d like to chip in with a couple of goals as being up there, but we’re trying to play off the striker.

“I think it helps us, especially away from home against a team like Derby who wanted to control the game and see a lot of the ball, so we needed the extra bodies and we managed them well in that respect on Tuesday."
