Activities for retired and semi-retired people in Wigan are set to increase thanks to Wigan Athletic Community Trust new Extra Time Hub project.

Launching at the DW Stadium on Tuesday 26th March, Extra Time Hub will harness the power of Wigan Athletic and aim to bring communities across Wigan Borough together to enable people to take part in exciting activities and to learn more about opportunities available to them.

An EFL Trust backed programme, Extra Time Hub is funded by the National Lottery and Sport England, with sessions to take place from 3.30pm-5.30pm every Tuesday at the DW Stadium.

The scheme aims to make a positive difference to the lives of retired and semi-retired people and for them to find out about the range of activities on offer in their free time as well as give them the chance to meet and spend time with other like-minded people from the area.

Tom Flower, Head of Community at Wigan Athletic, said: “We’re committed to becoming a more age-friendly organisation and the Extra Time Hub project will be a great programme for local residents in Wigan, so I’d like to thank the DW Stadium for their use of the facility to host this scheme.”

Activities on offer at the DW Stadium will include quizzes, games, arts and crafts, music, singing, table tennis, films, talks, stadium tours and much more, with refreshments also available.

The sessions cost £3 and includes free tea and coffee.
