Time flies when you're having fun... and fun is certainly something the gaffer has brought to Latics since his return on this day in 2017!
Bringing with him the expertise of Leam Richardson, Anthony Barry, Nick Colgan, Andy Procter, Dr Jonathan Tobin and Nick Meace, it's certainly been an entertaining couple of seasons.
With the directive of getting us back into the Sky Bet Championship following relegation in 2016-17, our former winger, who scored 14 goals in 89 matches over two spells as a player at Springfield Park and the JJB Stadium, led Latics to the Sky Bet League One title in 2017-18, before steering the club to safety in the Championship in 2018-19 with an 18th place finish.
