Experienced Republic of Ireland international forward signed following his release from Portsmouth

The Irish forward was on trial at Latics for a month and completed a full pre-season before rejoining former manager Paul Cook in August 2017, signing a season-long deal at the DW Stadium.

With over 350 league games under his belt and capable of playing several roles for the team, he adds great experience to the dressing room and gives extra attacking options for the manager.

Waterford-born Hunt began his career with Shamrock Rovers before a spell in Scotland saw the 21 year old build his reputation north of the border, initially with Dunfermline for three seasons before he really made his name at Dundee United, notching 23 league goals in 64 games between 2003 and 2006.

Reading were impressed enough to pay a reported £600,000 for his services and alongside his brother Stephen for some of the five seasons he spent at the Madejski Stadium, he scored 39 goals in 162 games in all competitions – i9ncluding 24 times in the Premier League.

Since leaving Reading in 2013, he has spent time at Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Southend United and Portsmouth and has faced Latics playing for Reading, Leeds and Ipswich.
