Date of birth
Experienced former West Bromwich Albion defender who made short-term move to the DW Stadium in January 2019.
Jonas Olsson signed for Latics on 1 February 2019 on a short-term deal following the expiration of his contract with Swedish side Djurgardens IF.
Olsson began his career in his home town of Landskrona with Landskrona BolS, before signing for Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands in 2005.
After three years with NEC, Olsson made a reported £1.1million move to West Bromwich Albion and made his debut in a 3-2 victory against West Ham United at the Hawthorns, in the same side as future Latics players Scott Carson and Leon Barnett.
Olsson scored his first Premier League goal in just his third appearance for the Baggies, netting the winner in a 1-0 away victory over Middlesbrough in September 2008.
During his nine years at West Brom, Olsson featured in squads with some familiar Latics names, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Paul Scharner, Liam Ridgewell, Scott Sinclair, Callum McManaman and James McClean.
Olsson, who has represented Sweden 25 times and also played in the 2012 UEFA European Championship, played 261 games in all competitions for the Baggies before his move to Djurgardens IF in March 2017.
During his time back home in Sweden, Olsson helped his side to win the 2018 Swedish Cup for the first time in 13 years.
