Date of birth
England youth international goalkeeper who joined Latics for a second loan spell from Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Described by Walton himself and both Latics boss Paul Cook and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton as a "no-brainer", the young stopper was an early 2018-19 addition as he joined for a second consecutive season on loan from the Seagulls.
Cornwall-born Walton signed on loan for Latics ahead of the 2017-18 season initially and, after recovering from an early season injury, never looked back as he starred in our run to Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals and won the Sky Bet League One Golden Glove for the 19 clean sheets he kept in 31 league games.
The 6ft 5in goalkeeper signed a new four-year contract at the AMEX Stadium in July 2017 but with the Seagulls now facing a second season of Premier League football, it was decided that Walton's development would be best aided by a further season with Latics, in which he'll play in the Championship.
With a calmness beyond his years, he is a commanding presence in the box and has exceptional shot-stopping abilities.
CAREER SO FAR
Walton actually made his Football League debut against Latics in a 1-0 victory for The Seagulls at the AMEX in November 2014, where he was voted man of the match.
He had short spells on loan at Bury and Plymouth Argyle in 2015-16, in fact playing for the Shakers in their League Cup victory at the DW Stadium in September 2015. He then played 27 times for Luton Town on loan in 2016-17 before finishing off the season at Southend United.
