Experienced forward who arrived at Wigan Athletic on a free transfer following spell with Cardiff City in January 2019.
Republic of Ireland international Anthony Pilkington signed for Latics following the mutual termination of his contract at Cardiff City in January 2019.
The experienced forward was Paul Cook's first signing of the January transfer window after Lee Evans made his move from Sheffield United permanent on New Year's Day.
Pilkington played youth football for Manchester United, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers and enjoyed a briel spell in non-league with Atherton Collieries before making his EFL bow with Stockport County.
At Edgeley Park, Pilkington was instantly popular and he scored 19 goals in two years with County before earning a move to then League One side Huddersfield Town.
Pilkington spent three years with the Terriers before then Premier League Norwich City paid a reported £2million for his services
He played 75 Premier League games for the Canaries and scored 14 top-flight goals before Cardiff City signed him ahead of the 2014-15 season.
During his time in South Wales, Pilkington 111 matches and scored 23 goals, five of which came as he helped the Bluebirds to win promotion to the Premier League in 2018.
