Technical midfielder who boasts over 500 career appearances.

The Liverpool-born midfielder linked back up with his former manager Paul Cook, for whom he played both at Portsmouth and Chesterfield, signing a season-long deal at Latics in 2017-18.

A forward who can play on either wing or behind a striker, Roberts has consistenly proven his ability across the EFL and proved useful to Latics in their Sky Bet League One title-winning campaign as he chipped in with an important equaliser in Latics' 3-3 draw with Scunthorpe United in a campaign in which he played 35 times in all competitions.

CAREER SO FAR
Liverpool-born Roberts was part of the Anfield academy set up as a boy, before he then joined up with the Crewe Alexandra junior set up. He joined Accrington Stanley in 2005, helping them to gain promotion from the Conference in 2006 – with Cook as a team mate.

He enjoyed spells at Ipswich Town, Crewe Alexandra, Huddersfield Town and Swindon Town before reuniting with his former team mate at the Proact Stadium in 2013.

He has won four promotions in his career, was voted League Two Player of The Year in 2014 – and even scored a 70 yard goal for Swindon earlier in his football life!
